Grades 4-8
Archaeology is a science that allows us to unlock the secrets of past civilizations. Participate in a hands-on demonstration of archaeological techniques as students explore a mock excavation site from Pompeii and learn to identify a culture based on the artifacts discovered.
NEW! On the Trail with Lewis and Clark
Grades 4-8
Take an imaginary trip with Lewis and Clark to explore President Jefferson’s recent acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase for the U.S. Government. Find out how the purchase affected our country and discover the preparations and training necessary for your journey.
Why were they going, what did they pack, what did they discover along the way? You will answer these questions and more as we head for adventure. Can accommodate a larger group of 60 students.
Cincinnati In Motion
Grades 1-4
Cincinnati has been a hub of transportation since before the first settlers arrived. From canoes to steamboats and from trolleys to trains, the movement of people and products has been at the heart of the city. This program includes a guided experience through the Cincinnati History Museum’s transportation-related exhibits.
Native American Lifestyles
Grades 1-4
Take a look at some of southern Ohio’s earliest inhabitants. What tools, natural resources and skills allowed them to survive? Students will perform the duties of an archaeologist, investigate artifacts and learn about the legends that have helped to preserve these cultures. Can accommodate a larger group of 60 students.
Welcome to My Home
Grades 1-3
Compare your homes and lives to those of children around the world. Explore cultural similarities related to school, clothing, family routines, names and leisure activities. This program includes a guided experience in the Duke Energy Children's Museum's Children Just Like Me exhibit. Available Tuesday through Friday only. Can accommodate a larger group of 60 students.
Coming to America
Grades 3-8
The nineteenth century brought many people to Cincinnati’s doorsteps from all around the world. What factors might influence an immigrant to leave the only home they have ever known and how did these groups impact our local community. Identify the "push" and "pull" factors that made the U.S. the land of opportunity and the influence of these groups in Cincinnati’s rich cultural history. Can accommodate a larger group of 60 students.
Life on the Ohio River
Grades 3-5
Take a ride down the Ohio River and learn what life was like for Native Americans and early settlers. Explore how the river has affected, and been affected by, changes in lifestyle and travel throughout history. This program includes a guided experience in the Cincinnati History Museum's Settlement to 1860s galleries.
AWARD-WINNING! Mind Your Money

Grades 1-3
The students will review the value of money and are introduced to the concepts of earning spending and saving. They will play a board game and pretend to live in Edwardsville, a small town perhaps like their own community. In Edwardsville, the students will be asked to spend and save their allowance wisely. The choices they make will better prepare them for their own future monetary decisions. Can accommodate a larger group of 60 students.
Grades 4-8
Discover some of the Cincinnati’s early businesses and investigate how each business earned, spent, saved and invested their money. Students will gain a basic understanding of how money works and how economics and math apply to our everyday lives.

Uncovering Egypt
Grades 4-8
