Cincinnati has been a hub of transportation since before the first settlers arrived. From canoes to steamboats and from trolleys to trains, the movement of people and products has been at the heart of the city. This program includes a guided experience through the Cincinnati History Museum’s transportation-related exhibits.
Native American Lifestyles // PDF

Take a look at some of southern Ohio’s earliest inhabitants. What tools, natural resources and skills allowed them to survive? Students will perform the duties of an archaeologist, investigate artifacts and learn about the legends that have helped to preserve these cultures. Includes a guided experience in the Cincinnati History Museum’s Early Settlement exhibit.

Why Cincinnati, and what lasting impact did their arrival have on the city and its culture? Explore the experiences of five groups of newcomers—German, Irish, Italian, Jewish and African—as they arrived in the Cincinnati area. This program includes a guided experience in the Cincinnati History Museum's Public Landing.

Grades 1-3
The students will review the value of money and are introduced to the concepts of earning spending and saving. They will play a board game and pretend to live in Edwardsville, a small town perhaps like their own community. In Edwardsville, the students will be asked to spend and save their allowance wisely. The choices they make will better prepare them for their own future monetary decisions.
Grades 4–8
Discover some of the Cincinnati’s early businesses and investigate how each business earned, spent, saved and invested their money. Students will gain a basic understanding of how money works and how economics and math apply to our everyday lives.

Archaeology is a science that allows us to unlock the secrets of past Egyptian civilizations. Participate in a hands-on demonstration of archaeological techniques as students explore a mock excavation site from Egypt and learn to identify a culture based on the replica artifacts discovered. Combine this program with a visit to the Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science exhibit and with the OMNIMAX film Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs.

Westward Expansion & the Corps of Discovery // PDF

Students prepare for an expedition into the Louisiana Territory by studying maps and planning rations. A journal provides students with the opportunity to make decisions that will affect the results of their adventure. Hands-on activities use history, geography and map reading skills to create a successful journey plan. Combine this program with the OMNIMAX film Lewis & Clark: Great Journey West.
