Cincinnati Museum Center offers many opportunities for educators to build their own knowledge and stay on top in their profession. You can attend workshops and seminars that demonstrate how to use Cincinnati Museum Center as a resource for classroom work and for personal enjoyment.You can also earn Continuing Education Units by attending certain lectures and workshops.
Special Topics LecturesCincinnati Museum Center’s ever-changing schedule of blockbuster exhibits and spectacular OMNIMAX films also provides inspiration for lectures. The Special Topics Lectures feature experts who specialize in the subject matter of these exhibits and films and broaden and enhance the public’s understanding and appreciation of these offerings.
Centering On Families LecturesHelping parents understand and enhance the development of their children is the focus of the Centering On Families lectures. Presented over lunch or dinner, this series features nationally known authors and experts and also serves to raise funds that provide staff development and other activities for the Duke Energy Children’s Museum.
Seminar on the CityThe annual Seminar on the City lecture series is popular with history buffs. The series is a collaborative project of Cincinnati Museum Center and the University of Cincinnati History Department. The lectures begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Reakirt Auditorium or the Scripps Howard Newsreel Theater at Union Terminal. Contact Hour certificates are available for CEU reporting purposes.
Charles & Ralph Dury Science Lecture SeriesThe Charles & Ralph Dury Science Lecture Series promotes an understanding and appreciation of the natural world. Science topics include anthropology, archaeology, environmental science, geology, paleontology and zoology. Lecturers are local and nationally known authorities. Contact Hour certificates are available for CEU reporting purposes.
Brown Bag LecturesAll lectures are at noon on the third Monday of each month, September through June, except for January and February when they are on the fourth Monday. Lectures take place in the Reakirt Auditorium, are free and do not require reservations.
