RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage the finance, administrative, and operational functions with a focus on the performance of the institution.  Establish and enforce appropriate policies and internal control procedures to safeguard the assets of CMC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees and directs cash management, investment management, budgeting, audit, accounting, purchasing, long range forecasting, and insurance activities for the organization.

 

Oversee the earned income activities of the museum store and DECO Dining to provide quality service and maximum net income.

 

Oversee the activities of the facilities and operations and information systems divisions to obtain the highest value and quality of operations at the lowest cost.

 

Prepare and manage CMC’s annual operating and capital budgets and financial operations.

 

Review and analysis of monthly financial reports to ensure that CMC’s financial condition is reported accurately to the Board of Trustees, Finance and Investment Committee, and senior staff.

 

Manage contracts, legal issues and human resource functions of museum.

 

Provide staff support to the Finance and Investment Committees of the Board of Trustees.

 

Manage the finance office to insure CMC’s accounting and financial functions are performed effectively.  Select, manage, develop, and evaluate the finance office staff to effectively meet CMC goals.

 

Direct cash activities to maintain appropriate cash levels.  Manage banking and investment relationships to optimize service and minimize cost to CMC.  Submit reports from investment advisors to board committee and CEO monthly.

 

Manage the annual audit and other audit activities including issuance of annual financial statements.

 

Oversee and approve preparation of tax returns and related reports to ensure compliance with governmental reporting requirements.  Oversee preparation of the financial portion of grant reports and billings to ensure compliance with requirements and policies of funding sources.

 

Develop policies, procedures, and reporting systems that minimize risks to public, staff, museum collections, finances, and the building. Manage the Human Resource functions of the museum to maintain quality staff.

 

Contribute, as a member of senior staff, to the policy making for, and management of, CMC.  Attend meetings of the Board of Trustees and, as appropriate, of various Board Committees.

 

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

BA or BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field. MBA strongly preferred.

Five to ten years experience as CFO or manager of twenty million dollar operation strongly preferred.
