POSITION:

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM DEVELOPER (FT)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Early Childhood Program developers serves as a resource in child development for the staff of the Duke energy Children's Museum and CMC Education Department and provides a CMC presence in Cincinnati's Early Childhood community. This position interacts with visitors on the museum floor.

Responsibilities:

Develop, plan and implement weekly early childhood programs with EC Program Specialist, parent-child interactive workshops, and parent education workshops.

Provide supervision and feedback for Early Childhood Program Specialists,

Serve as a liaison to Cincinnati's EC community by attending relevant workshops and meetings.

Attend local community events and festivals as a representative of CMC.

Create daily floor schedule and serve as back-up Coordinator-On-Duty.

Update child development information in Parent Resource Center.

Develop and maintain budgets for early childhood programs.

Provide training to Education Department and DECM staff on early childhood issues.

Participate in exhibit development projects as appropriate.

Assist with exhibit maintenance and cleaning as scheduled by floor Operations Department.

Train and mentor youth and adult volunteers as needed.

Provide support in programming and special project committees as assigned by Director or Assistant vice President.

Dedicate approximately 20% of time to the museum floor, interacting with visitors and facilitating programs. Typically done one day per week.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Child Development or related degree with strong knowledge of child development and educational domains; experience working in an early childhood or elementary setting will be considered; museum experience a plus. Experience developing and implementing programs for young children preferred. Knowledge of local early childhood community helpful. Self-motivator, team player, with strong attention to detail and follow-through. Good interpersonal skills to interact with Museum Center visitors, Museum Center staff, and people in the community.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Full-time exempt position with benefits. Sundays through Thursdays. Evenings occasionally required.
