MANAGER OF ANNUAL GIVING (FT)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Manager of Annual Giving designs, executes, reports on, and evaluates the comprehensive annual giving program of Cincinnati Museum Center, as part of a major consolidated campaign.  The position works as a member of a team responsible for every aspect of individual giving, from entry-level annual donors to major donors of the highest level. The team functions on a collaborative, donor-centered model devoted to growth, motivation of donors to higher levels of giving, and customer service. The position requires a person of extraordinary independence and initiative who can work in a collaborative team environment to produce high-quality work with a minimum of supervision and a maximum of contribution to a group effort.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with the part-time Manager of Annual Fund Initiatives to achieve the entire annual fund goal. (Pervades responsibilities.)
  • Increases the number of annual fund donors and increases the donations to the annual fund. (20%)
  • Designs and executes continuing and individualized strategies to engage donors in Museum Center and motivate them to increase their annual giving, with special attention to increase the pool of donors who give $1,000 per year or more. (20%)
  • Designs, plans, and produces Annual Fund marketing communications, targeted to specific donor populations, when necessary.  (20%)
  • Designs, plans, and executes special donor events at all levels, in co-operation with special events staff. (20%)
  • Identifies annual fund donors capable of major gifts ($25,000 and higher), based on available prospective donor research (10%)
  • Designs and executes cultivation and solicitation strategies for major givers in conjunction with the Director of Major Gifts. (5%)
  • Gains detailed knowledge of donors in the database, using Raiser’s Edge or other designated software designed for the same purpose.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. (5%)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 5 years experience working in a development office, with involvement in the process of soliciting major and campaign gifts.

  • Writing, analytical, research, word-processing, and critical thinking skills of the type expected from a bachelor’s degree holder required.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in annual fund development and direct mail appeals required.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a position in which at least 15% of time was spent in  planning of special events desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a position in which at least 50% of time was spent in cultivation of donors and solicitation of gifts highly required.
  • 5 years experience in a position requiring daily use of Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising software.
  • Word processing and spreadsheet skills required, preferably Microsoft Word and Excel, including use of tables, designing and executing mail merges, and writing spreadsheet formulas.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex tasks serving multiple customers; a high degree of personal organization; ability to complete multiple projects punctually and under pressure.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills required.
  • Ability to make independent decisions using critical thinking skills to design donor communication, motivation, and cultivation strategies.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Position is full-time, M - F. Weekends and evenings on occasion as needed.
