POSITION: Evening Events Internship
DEPARTMENT: Public Education – Evening Events
DEADLINE: Friday, March 26, 2010 before 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual will be responsible for working with the Manager of Special Exhibits and Evening Events Staff to create and implement an annual, standard training certification procedure for new and incumbent evening event staff.
• Create electronic documentation to support evening event procedures
• Meet with staff to review procedures for each museum
• Facilitate evening event staff training sessions
• Read assigned book and prepare presentation for museum leadership regarding project
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Be entering their Sophomore, Junior or Senior year
• Include a transcript from their University or College
• Provide University or College requirements/guidelines for acquiring Internship credit
• Indicate in their cover letter the top three departments that they would like to work
• Provide writing samples
• Ability to learn and effectively teach exhibit content in a museum environment in both one-on-one and group situations in an engaging, compelling, and energetic manner
• Must possess positive attitude
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• Applicant must be able to work some evenings and weekends
• Applicant must be comfortable using Microsoft Power Point, Outlook, Word, and Excel
