POSITION: Public Relations & Communications Internship

 

DEPARTMENT: Public Relations & Communications

DEADLINE: Friday, March 26, 2010 before 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the Public Relations Department in the following ways:

  • Developing and implementing media opportunities and interviews for Cincinnati Museum Center’s exhibits, films, museums and attractions.
  • Maintaining the planning and implementation of integrated media strategies and communications plans for exhibits, films and special programs.
  • Follow through with other departments to identify goals and objectives in order to develop strategic marketing plans to accomplish them.
  • Learn ways in which a public relations department creates and executes plans as well as cultivates relationships to obtain positive media coverage for all aspects of the institution.
  • Respond to community requests for photo shoots, etc. to foster a positive image in the eyes of the surrounding community.
  • Other duties as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ideal candidates will be skilled in Microsoft Office products, Word and Outlook in particular as well as various forms of social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.); graphic design and photography skills are a plus.
  • Ideal candidates will be self-starters, willing to take direction and also share ideas.
  • Knowledge of local print, televised and radio media personalities and entities a plus.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

 Projects:

  • Writing press releases and media alerts.
  • Taking photos at various media and private events as needed.
  • Assist public relations director and media relations manager in contacting media and coordinating media events.
  • Assist in research for potential future media opportunities.
  • Assist in general office tasks such as filing, archiving, etc.
  • Other projects as they arise.
