Ethnology Technician

Monday or Tuesday

Ethnology technicians perform laboratory and collection tasks. Most common tasks are cataloging, cleaning artifacts, data entry and photography. Applicants must have an eye for detail and the ability to write legible catalog numbers  Photography and computer skills are preferred.

Metal Crafter

Weekdays

We’re looking for a talented and experienced metal-worker to create some trucks (wheel assemblies) for Museum Center’s beautiful Cincinnati streetcar. The original trucks for these cars were scrapped some 50 years ago, but we have two pairs of trucks that can become the starting point for facsimile trucks. Our streetcar coordinator/historian will work with this volunteer to create a design that looks like the original archbar trucks. Take on the challenge – put the finishing touch on this historic car!

Mineralogy Collections Assistant

Weekdays (possibly Saturdays)

Mineralogy collection requires assistance in inventory, preparation, cataloging of specimens and data entry of computerized records. Volunteers must be patient, have an eye for detail and be able to follow instructions closely. Application of catalog numbers and creation of specimen labels are part of the job. Training is provided, but an appreciation for minerals is helpful.

Paleontology Collections Assistant

Weekdays

Cincinnati Museum Center’s world-renowned collections of vertebrate and invertebrate fossils require assistance in cataloging activities and data entry of computerized records. Volunteers must be patient, have an eye for detail and be able to follow instructions closely. Application of catalog numbers and creation of specimen labels are part of the job. Training provided, but experience with computers and data entry required.

Zoology Collections Assistant

Weekdays

Volunteers are needed to assist in the organization and cataloging of zoology collections including bird, mammal, shell and insect specimens. Volunteers must be patient, have an eye for detail and be able to follow instructions closely. Tasks include specimen inventory, cataloging, data entry and collection organization. Training provided.
