Education

School Programs Educator

Flexible; scheduled according to program times; weekdays 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

School Programs volunteers are responsible for delivering exciting and content-rich programs to school age students (grades pre-K to 12) in the areas of science and social studies. Those interested in this position should enjoy working with diverse audiences and possess an eagerness to share museum-based content in a lively, engaging manner. Training will be provided. Current volunteers include former teachers as well as other professionals. Flexible schedules, personal and professional opportunities, and the enjoyment of helping young minds explore Cincinnati Museum Center are among the many benefits of joining the School Programs team.

Exhibits & Museum Planning

Evaluation Assistant

Position times and lengths vary for each project 

Help make Cincinnati Museum Center the best it can be! Volunteers assist with collecting evaluations, that enable staff to determine ways to better serve the public. Evaluations are used to test prototypes for new exhibits and to find out how existing programs or exhibits are working. Recording answers and assisting with the analysis are tasks associated with this position. Volunteers should be able to engage visitors in conversation and have a friendly and outgoing nature.

Institutional Advancement

Instituional Advancement Assistant

Weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Volunteers assist with filing and additional light office duties. No prior office experience is required, but attention to detail and the ability to keep information confidential is a must. Training will be provided.

Membership Assistant

Weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

In this important position, volunteers in the Membership Department will be assisting in mail preparation, stuffing renewal notices, compiling membership cards and inserts for mailing, taking membership information over the phone and filling out membership forms. An eye for detail is required. Training will be provided.

Public Programs & Special Events

Special Events & Exhibits

Flexible schedule dependent upon event/exhibit

This is the perfect position for those that like a little variety and spice in their life! Throughout the year, Cincinnati Museum Center hosts exhibits that travel to different venues around the country (and around the world). Volunteers working within these exhibits interact with visitors, facilitate learning, answer questions and help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment. Museum Center also has annual special events in which volunteers play an integral part. Snowball Family Gala is a favorite festivity for families, and the Passport to the World CultureFests allow guests to experience the music, art, crafts and food of cultures from around the world. Volunteers assisting with these events help with registration, lend a hand with craft activities, provide support to event coordinators, greet guests and provide directional assistance.

Visitor Services

Greeter

Weekdays and Weekends during operating hours

Greeters provide visitors with their first impression of Cincinnati Museum Center. This position requires volunteers to be outgoing and friendly and possess the ability to communicate to small and large groups of all ages. Greeters welcome guests, answer questions, provide directional assistance and inform visitors of special activities in the building. Additionally, greeters offer assistance to groups entering the facility, help to ensure a smooth check-in and lend a hand to get groups ready to enjoy their day.

Facility Operations

Mailroom Operations Assistant

Flexible schedule; Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

The Cincinnati Museum Center Mailroom Operations Assistant will sort incoming and outgoing mail, pick up and deliver mail throughout the beautiful historic Union Terminal, prepare outgoing mail with proper postage and deliver copy paper and mailing supplies.  Good customer service skills are necessary as well as the ability to read and write English.  Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time and ability to push and pull a mail cart, lift up to 50 pounds, work independently and operate a postage machine are a must.
