Facts
- The Cincinnati Historical Society Library was
founded in 1831 as the Historical and Philosophical Society of Ohio.
It is one of the nation's largest regional research libraries. Collections
include manuscripts, books, maps, periodicals, genealogical resources,
architectural records and photograph collections documenting the history
of the Greater Cincinnati area and the State of Ohio.
- The Museum of Natural History & Science
traces its origins to the Western Museum Society, which was founded
in 1818 by a group of men who combined their personal collections of
artifacts for presentation to the public. John James Audubon, hired
as a taxidermist, was the first paid employee.
- Duke Energy Children's Museum opened in October
1998 at Cincinnati Museum Center after its previous location in historic

visitors during its first year, placing third in the country in visitation.
- Cincinnati History Museum, one of the largest
and most significant urban history museums in the country, opened in
1990 as an original Cincinnati Museum Center attraction. Amongst other
exciting permanent exhibits, it houses the nation's largest home-front

Museum Center's Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX® Theater is one
of the most successful in the world. The Theater features a five-story,
domed screen spanning 72-feet in diameter. Theater attendance reached
