Museum Center Celebrates Opening of Groundbreaking Exhibit

Cincinnati Museum Center’s dedicated exhibit staff has been working diligently for the past year, in collaboration with the Ford Motor Company and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES), toward the completion of Freedom’s Sisters, the first and most comprehensive exhibit on women in the civil rights movement. This Saturday, the exhibit will be unveiled in a public ceremony.

Four of the “living legends” will be in attendance: Dr. Dorothy Height, Kathleen Cleaver, Myrlie Evers-Williams and Sonia Sanchez. The events of the morning will include:

o 11 a.m. ribbon cutting
o 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. photo opportunities with the living legends in the exhibit

At noon, the Dayton section of the National Council of Negro Women will be bringing a group of 54 students to enjoy the exhibit.

Freedom’s Sisters
Opens Saturday, March 15 and will run through September 14, 2008
Admission: $7.25 for adults, $5.25 for children (ages 3-12), $6.25 for seniors (60+)

In its tenth year, this event is the fourth in a series of five Passport to the World culture fests, which give visitors a chance to experience cultures from around the globe.
