Chad Mertz, (513) 287-7054, cmertz@cincymuseum.org Cincinnati Museum Center Celebrates Asian Culture April 26 and 27, 2008 To close the 2007-2008 Passport to the World series, Cincinnati Museum Center will celebrate the rich traditions of Asia at the 6th annual Asian Culture Fest on April 26 and 27. The event will highlight the histories, arts and traditions of China, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and others, through an assortment of cultural performances and activities. There will be demonstrations, storytelling, dance performances, workshops, cultural displays and an Asian marketplace. Asian Culture Fest activities include: · An interactive lecture on Feng Shui philosophy by renowned speaker Diana Garber; · An Indian dance drama based on the works of Nobel Laureate, Rabindranath Tagore; · Traditional fan dancing presented by the Korean-American School and the Taiwanese Association of Cincinnati; · Performances by Cincinnati's "Best World Music Band", Mohenjo Daro and newcomers, Nakama, a trio of flute, koto and percussion; · Health Screenings offered by the Asian Community Alliance; · Shopping for Asian souvenirs in the Rotunda marketplace. Time: Asian Culture Fest runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 and Sunday, April 27 Cost: Free and open to the public, with the exception of activities that take place in the museums, which are subject to general museum admission. Don't forget your Passport! Visitors will receive a Passport, which they can get stamped at various stamping stations. Once the Passport is full, it can be exchanged for free admission to one museum. All three museums have developed support programming around the event. Passports that have been collected from all five cultures fests in the 2007-2008 Passport to the World season will be put into a drawing for a one-year Explorer Family membership to be given away on Monday, April 28, 2008.
