Policies

- $13 per Scout - One chaperone per five scouts free, $6.50 per additional adult

- Scouts may spend the rest of the day of their program in the museum listed in their badge.

- Payment in full is required at the time of reservation.

- If you must cancel, there is no charge up to two weeks before the program date. Within two weeks, there is a flat $25 cancellation fee per troop.

- Individuals may only reserve within two weeks based on availability and an adult must accompany the child.

- We reserve the right to cancel any date that is not filled to the minimum. Programs are closed as they fill their maximum capacity.

Cincinnati Museum Center offers a variety of badge programs for Webelos, Boy Scouts, American Heritage Girls, Junior Girl Scouts and Brownie Scouts. All programs include private demonstrations, discussions and exploration of the museum all day. Call (513) 287-7021 to reserve your place.

Brownies learn about children from a variety of countries by visiting our Children Just Like Me exhibit in the Duke Energy Children’s Museum. They will learn how to say hello and goodbye in different languages, as well as songs and crafts from different countries. The program includes presentation of the badge provided by Cincinnati Museum Center and all day access to Duke Energy Children’s Museum. Programs are held the same weekends as our Culture Fests to provide additional diversity. Culture Fests include storytelling, dancing, native clothing, jewelry, and performances free in our Rotunda. Participating in this program will fulfill requirements #1, 4, 5 and 6.

Listening to the Past

This program will introduce history to Brownies in an interactive way. The program begins in the Cincinnati History Museum where the girls can explore our 1800’s replica of the Cincinnati public landing. Your troop will get an opportunity to journey back in time and play children’s games from the past. The program continues with a look at the exhibit Cincinnati in Motion. The program concludes with a private tour of Union Terminal where your troop will discover the importance of the building to Cincinnati history. All participants will receive a Listening to the Past Try-It. This program fulfills requirements #2, 4, 5 and 6.

Brownies will go on a science and technology hunt in our Museum of Natural History & Science, make weird glop, learn about magnetic attraction, and conduct fun science experiments! The program ends with the presentation of the badge provided my Cincinnati Museum Center. Participants and adults will have access to the Museum of Natural History & Science all day. This program fulfills requirements #1, 2, 3, 5, and 6.

Brownies learn all about their five senses in our Museum of Natural History & Science. They will discover how their senses work and how they help us through experiments, museum exploration and even meeting one of our Big Brown Bats! Participants and adults will have access to the Museum of Natural History & Science all day. This program fulfills requirements #1, 2, 3, 4, and 6.

Girl Scouts learn about different cultures and how they interact with their habitats. They will learn about how housing, food and traditions all are shaped in part by the world around us. The program includes presentation of the badge provided by Cincinnati Museum Center and all day access to Cincinnati Museum of Natural History & Science. Programs are held the same weekends as our Culture Fests to provide additional diversity. Culture Fests include storytelling, dancing, native clothing, jewelry, and performances free in our Rotunda.

Architecture Badge
September 11, 2010- 1 to 4 p.m.

Union Terminal is a perfect place to hold this program. Girls will discuss styles of architecture in the Cincinnati area and around the world. Girls will put together a scrapbook of architectural styles they can take home with them. They will then have a private Rotunda Tour guided by a volunteer of the Cincinnati Heritage Program. Once back in the classroom, girls will work together to design and build a structure as quickly as possible with limited resources. All participants will receive an Architecture badge. The troop will have access to the Cincinnati History Museum all day. Participating in this program will fulfill requirements #1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 10.

Folk Arts Badge
December 11, 2010- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
December 19, 2010- 1 to 4 p.m.
March 5, 2011- 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The program consists of a visit to the Cincinnati History Museum and a visit from a storyteller. Scouts will also learn a folk dance, folk song, and make a special craft they can take home with them. All participants will receive a Folk Art Badge provided by the Cincinnati Museum Center. Participants and adults will have access to the Cincinnati History Museum all day. Program fulfills requirements #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 10.

This program includes a guided tour of the Museum of Natural History & Science. Scouts will learn about fossils, minerals, glaciers and dinosaurs. The girls will have a private demonstration in our Nature’s Trading Post discussing hardness scale, local fossils, and types of rocks. Participating in this program will fulfill requirements #1, 2, 3, 5, and 8. Badge is provided by Cincinnati Museum Center.

Theatre Badge
September 18, 2010- 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

April 2, 2011- 10a.m. to noon

Help your troop dive into the world of theatre. Girls will discover basics of performing for an audience. They will learn how to: project their voice clearly, apply stage make-up that will fool anyone, learn to think quickly on their feet during improve, and much more! All participants will receive a Theatre Badge provided by Cincinnati Museum Center. Also the troop will have access to the Duke Energy Children’s Museum all day. This program fulfills requirements #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9

Join us for a look at geology in the Cincinnati area! Look at rocks minerals and fossils at our Nature’s Trading Post, experiment with volcanoes, and test your skills in geology while walking through the Museum of Natural History!
