Walden...a place worth a thousand pictures.A place that inspired thousands of words.This exhibition invites visitors to return to the outdoors through 29 large format photographs capturing the natural beauty that inspired Henry David Thoreau. Also includes:
- A short video presentation about Thoreau’s legacy and how his writings influenced contemporary thinking about the natural world and our place in it.
- A hands-on nature station with natural artifacts and nature activity cards designed to engage the visitor in local forest ecology.
- A feedback area where visitors may leave pictures and thoughts about their own “Walden.”
In 1999 Scot Miller embarked on a personal photographic journey reminiscent of that taken by Thoreau some one hundred and fifty years ago. The result is the inspiration for this exhibition: Walden: 150th Anniversary Illustrated Edition of the American Classic, a reprint of Thoreau’s classic, published in 2004 by Houghton Mifflin. The book has enjoyed popular success and critical acclaim.
This exhibition was produced in cooperation with Scot Miller and the Walden Woods Project and sponsored by Houghton Mifflin.

- 280-320 linear running feet/1,500 square feet
- Quality lighting (suitable for fine art photography) available throughout space
- Air-conditioned and environmentally monitored space
- Skilled exhibition staff to install/de-install
- Storage for crates and packing materials
- Insurance from arrival to arrival at next venue
Exhibit Rental Fees
- $7,500 for period of 13 weeks average
- $2,000 deposit required with signed contract
- Actual inbound shipping
