Job Purpose
As a part of the Special Exhibits Leadership Team, the Marketing Outreach Coordinator is primarily responsible for coordinating the efforts of the Marketing Outreach staff to positively represent Cincinnati Museum Center throughout our community and promoting the special exhibit A Day in Pompeii. This can include, but is not limited to community events, parades, press events and other internal and external marketing opportunities. This position may works closely with the Managers of Special Exhibits and Marketing and Communications.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Marketing Outreach Coordinator will be expected to lead a team of Specialists out into the Greater Cincinnati community with the purpose of promoting our special exhibition A Day in Pompeii. Accomplishing this will include:
• Working with the Manager of Special Exhibits and the Manager of Marketing and Communications to identify marketing outreach opportunities
• Coordinating the efforts of the specialists to ensure they have their directives
• Organize, attend or participate in local special events and promotions
• Represent Cincinnati Museum Center at special and media events
• Participate in local parades
• Distributing marketing collateral which can include flyers, stickers and temporary tattoos
• Manage booth at local events and assist in giveaways and promotions
• Engage with the public in Pompeii appropriate costumes
The coordinator will also assist with any additional marketing and exhibits duties as assigned and are expected to work effectively and professionally with other museum departments and the general public, maintaining a pleasant and helpful demeanor in any dealings with museum staff or the public.
Job Qualifications
• Bachelors degree with background or coursework in journalism, theater, performing arts, marketing, public relations or communications preferred
• Team management experience
• Willingness to dress out in a costume
• Team player attitude
• Must be a strong communicator (written and verbal)
• Must be organized, experienced, upbeat and passionate about building positive relationships
• Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation
Additional Information
Position is temporary with up to 24 hours per week. Position has a Thursday, Saturday, Sunday schedule. Evening, holiday, and weekend hours will be required.
The majority of the time is spent at external locations throughout the community. These can include but are not limited to shopping malls,community centers, parks and other public recreational areas. Other work may be oriented throughout Cincinnati Museum Center’s main campus in Cincinnati’s West End. Including any of the three museums, special exhibits, the Grand Rotunda, Reakirt Auditorium, Newsreel Theatre, the Dining Rooms, museum galleries, education service areas, outside on Museum Center grounds, and other areas as assigned. Individual must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, occasional bending, stooping, lifting. May be required to lift up to 30 pounds. Must also be able to move supplies in and out of storage rooms, set-up tables and chairs and open and close room dividers.
