Dinosaurs: Giants of Patagonia in our five-story, domed OMNIMAX® Theater is the perfect companion to the Ultimate Dinosaurs: Giants from Gondwana exhibit, also opening June 13. Combining the exhibit and OMNIMAX® film is the closest thing to actually being in the presence of these extraordinary creatures!
Following Dr. Rodolfo Coria, a world-renowned Argentinean paleontologist, we visit sites of major dinosaur discoveries in the Patagonia region of South America and travel back in time to see these amazing beasts come to life. Patagonia has given us the largest living animal to have ever walked the Earth: The titanesque plant-eating Argentinosaur, and its nemesis, the Giganotosaur, a bipedal carnivore, that could easily challenge the famous T-Rex.
Deeply rooted in science, the film carries the audience through the lives of two specimens of these superb achievements of evolution. The action is intense and the landscape is out of this world. From space, we have the perfect vantage point to witness the movement of the tectonic plates, and the arrival of a comet that may have sealed the fate of the Dinosaurs.
"An intelligently crafted IMAX film that is as rooted in science as it is cloaked in the thrilling images of CGI." - Edward Ortiz, Sacramento Bee
"...the perfect blend of scholarly information and totally cool dinosaurs brought to vivid life." - Lori Hoffman, Atlantic City Weekly
"Rare among large format movies, Patagonia even has a sense of humor, nicely underplayed by narrator Donald Sutherland." - Chris Hewitt, St. Paul Pioneer Press
