CINCINNATI - What better place to celebrate National Train Day than at historic Union Terminal? On Saturday, May 11, Cincinnati Museum Center celebrates the sixth annual National Train Day along with dozens of other institutions around the nation.
Built as a train station in 1933, Union Terminal once served as many as 20,000 passengers a day during WWII. Now a National Historic Landmark, Union Terminal still houses a working Amtrak station.
"Museum Center is proud to call historic Union Terminal home and celebrate our rich train history," says Douglass W. McDonald, president and CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center. "Trains play a special role in the history of Cincinnati we're pleased to be the place in Cincinnati for train fanatics old and young to share their passion and love of trains."
Here's how you can celebrate with us!
Visit Tower A, once the main control tower for Cincinnati Union Terminal, and get a bird's eye view of the tracks that are still in use today. Learn about upcoming trips, railroad tours, and enter to win prizes! The tower will be open for extended hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tower A is free and open to the public.
