About Union Terminal
Originally built in 1933 as a train station, Union Terminal is a National Historic Landmark and local treasure. The building has had many lives, including one as a shopping mall, but in 1990 it officially opened as Cincinnati Museum Center. This art deco gem is our most precious artifact and is beloved by Cincinnatians and out-of-towners alike. In 2007, it was voted one of the country’s most popular buildings by the American Institute of Architects.
Hear from our director of the Cincinnati History Library & Archives and history collections on the original proposals submitted for Union Terminal, before the city decided to build it in the West End. Can you imagine a train station on the riverfront? Check it out!
