Cincinnati Museum Center Has Reopened!

CMC finished Union Terminal's historic restoration in November 2018
After a two-and-a-half year restoration, Cincinnati Museum Center is once again open to the general public. Construction on the building's first full structural restoration began in earnest in July 2016, when Union Terminal's iconic Rotunda was sealed off from the public. Since then, the Winold Reiss's murals have been cleaned, the building was made watertight, and new mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems were installed. Cincinnati Museum Center reopened in November 2018, ready for the next 100 years of discovery.
What's open at Cincinnati Museum Center?
As of November 2018, the brand-new Dinosaur Hall in the Museum of Natural History & Science and Public Landing, in the Cincinnati History Museum. Holiday Junction Featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains and our two special traveling exhibitions Chocolate and GUITAR: The Instrument That Rocked The World are also open.
Holiday Junction is included with the brand-new Discovery Pass, our new all-museum ticket. The Duke Energy Children's Museum reopened on May 4, 2018, after water damage was repaired. We're open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
What's going to open at Cincinnati Museum Center?
So much! Science Interactives, a new gallery featuring life-size science experiments, and The Cave, a fan-favorite, are all returning in early 2019. This spring, watch out for another new gallery, the Space Exploration Gallery, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the moon landing with artifacts that can only be seen at CMC. Cincinnati in Motion is coming back, too, in March 2019.
We have even more planned for the second part of 2019. Free shows will be available in the Fountain and Mallory galleries. The Transportation Gallery in the Cincinnati History Museum will explain Cincinnati's history from canoe to car. And, Egypt: The Time of Pharaohs, the largest collection of Egypt artifacts ever traveled, will open at CMC in February.
When will the OMNIMAX® open?
The Robert D. Lindner Family OMNIMAX® Theater reopened in December 2018. The OMNIMAX®, our five-story, giant domed screen, has been restored with the rest of Union Terminal. Complete with new seats and carpeting, a new screen that's seamless under projection and, last but not least, IMAX with Laser digital projection technology, the OMNIMAX® will take you farther than ever before.
