April 18: Asian Culture Fest

 

Our 11th annual Asian Culture Fest will highlight the rich histories, arts, and traditions of China, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Nepal and the Philippines through through demonstrations, storytelling, dance performances, workshops, cultural displays and an Asian marketplace with authentic Asian merchandise.

Asian Market Place
Enjoy an expanded market of Asian themed merchandise from Japanese blossom scented soaps to artisan glass bonsai trees.

Workshop: Henna
Design your own whimsical Henna-adorned candles or have some painted on your hands.

Witness a Lion Dance followed by a presentation from students of the UC College Conservatory of Music.

Shadow Puppet Theater
Celebrate Asian Culture Fest with us and drop in on our Shadow Puppet Theater. We’ll provide the materials for you to create a shadow puppet of your own and work together using puppets and props to create and act out a story.

Himalayan Music and Dance with the CCM Ensemble
Enjoy a musical performance directed by Professor Stefan Fiol, UC College-Conservatory of Music.

Traditional to Modern – Thundering Japanese Drum
Experience a drum performance by Cincinnati Dayton Taiko.

Filipino Traditional Dance Presentation

Cultural Insights into Asia

Bring your passport to the four Stamping Stations located around the Rotunda and surrounding areas. Once you collect all four stamps, enter to win four All Museum Passes for your family!

Passport Stamping Stations

1. Ichi - Henna: Name the state in India that grows Henna crops
2. Ni - The Countries of Asia: Pick a card and see if you can accurately locate countries in Asia
3. San - Taiwanese Culture Quiz: Answer one question about Taiwanese culture to earn your passport stamp
4. Shi/yon: Passport to the World Table
