Limited Edition Union Terminal watch gives back to building that inspired it

Cincinnati Watch Company donates portion of proceeds to support National Historic Landmark

CINCINNATI – A watch inspired by Union Terminal is helping to support Union Terminal. The Cincinnati Watch Company’s Union Terminal watch pays homage to the Art Deco masterpiece’s iconic clock and a portion of each sale is in turn being donated back to the building by the company. To date, proceeds f

rom the inaugural run of over 175 watches have been donated to the National Historic Landmark.

“We are so thankful that people love Union Terminal so much they want to wear it on their wrist,” says Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center. “The Cincinnati Watch Company’s craftsmanship and their generous support of Cincinnati Museum Center and Union Terminal is so appreciated.”

The Union Terminal watch features the multi-paned glass clock face and the striking red hands on the front, true to the building’s illuminated clock. An outline of the building’s façade is etched around 1933, the year Union Terminal opened, on the back. It also includes a cut-out on the back revealing the inner cogs and gears of the timepiece.

“The clock at Union Terminal is one of the most interesting clock designs I have ever seen and iconic to the city of Cincinnati,” says Rick Bell, owner of the Cincinnati Watch Company. “We felt it would translate very well to a watch. The design was something we had discussed for years so it’s a dream come true to make it a reality.”

A portion of each watch’s sale has been donated to Union Terminal, with over 175 watches sold so far from the Limited Edition run.

“It is our mission with Cincinnati Watch Company to make watches inspired by the city we love and to give back to the community that has given us so much,” says Bell. “When we had the opportunity to make such a unique product, we jumped at the idea of helping an institution that provides so much value. Cincinnati Museum Center inspired wonder for me when I was younger and now it’s come full circle to now see my children enjoy the same experience.”

While all of the Union Terminal watch preorders have been shipped, there are a select few Limited Edition watches available at www.cincinnatiwatch.com or at two local retailers, Appointments in Carew Tower and 45/46 Fine Men’s Apparel in Hyde Park Square.
