Cincinnati Museum Center extends The Science Behind Pixar exhibition
Come face-to-face with Buzz, Dory, Mike, Sulley and WALL•E through summer
CINCINNATI – Everybody loves Pixar. They love Woody and Buzz, Mike, Sulley, Lightning McQueen, Dory and hundreds of others. That’s why Toy Story 2, 3 and 4 exist. And because everybody loves a good sequel, Cincinnati Museum Center (CMC) is extending The Science Behind Pixar exhibition, giving everyone more time with their favorite characters. 
The Science Behind Pixar is being extended through summer, which means you can spend your summer just swimming, swimming, swimming with Dory, going to infinity and beyond with Buzz Lightyear and scaring up laughs with Mike and Sulley.
“The exhibition has been such a hit with guests of all ages but you can tell it clearly holds a place in the hearts of those people who grew up with these characters and these films. Now they get the opportunity to know them on another level,” said Elizabeth Pierce, president and CEO of Cincinnati Museum Center. “It’s the perfect way to round out the school year and to beat the heat this summer.”
To create the whimsical worlds of Toy Story, Cars, Inside Out, Brave, Coco and more, Pixar artists used a lot of imagination and a lot of science. The Science Behind Pixar puts you in the artist’s seat through eight interactive areas, shining a lamp on the Pixar filmmaking process. The exhibition delivers an unparalleled view of the production pipeline used by Pixar’s artists and computer scientists, revealing the STEM concepts behind modeling, rigging, surfaces, sets and cameras, animation, simulation, lighting and rendering.
Through over 50 interactive elements you get a chance to:
- Discover how camera placement and angles created a bug’s-eye view in A Bug’s Life
- Create a digital sculpture from an artist’s sketch
- Use lights to solve challenges similar to ones faced by Pixar when creating underwater scenes in Finding Nemo
- See how models are given a virtual skeleton that enables animators to pose them
- Build a robot inspired by those in WALL•E
- Try your hand at stop-motion animation of a jumping lamp and watch a short film of what you produced
- See and touch scale models of Pixar’s beloved characters
