Eli Whitney’s cotton gin changes the lives of Southern slaves and revolutionized the production of cotton. Imagine life without the traffic light, ironing board, pacemaker, light bulb and peanut butter! Using a timeline, hands-on activities and role-playing, explore inventions and their impact on our daily lives.
Cincinnati in Motion

Cincinnati has been a hub of transportation since before the first settlers arrived. From canoes to steamboats and from trolleys to trains, the movement of people and products has been at the heart of the city. This program includes a guided experience through the Cincinnati History Museum’s transportation-related exhibits.
Be a Space Ace

Help scientists discover clues about the planets in our universe. Through problem solving and hands-on experimentation the students will participate in activities that are out of this world!
The Reasons for the Seasons

Appropriate for ages 6 to 11
Using globes, rotate and revolve your way to learn about the seasons and to understand why spring and summer are warmer times of the year and fall and winter are colder. Investigate the annual cycles of animal migration, hibernation and toleration then learn about tracks and scat. Create the sounds of spring and learn why leaves change color and fall is called fall.
Uncovering Egypt

Appropriate for ages 9 and up
Archaeology is a science that allows us to unlock the secrets of past Egyptian civilizations. Participate in a hands-on demonstration of archaeological techniques as students explore a mock excavation site from Egypt and learn to identify a culture based on the replica artifacts discovered.
Thinking Green?

Today’s concern with protecting our planet for future generations brings with it a variety of fascinating, environmentally friendly, technology. During this program, children will experiment with different types of clean energy and learn about a special roof that is green in more ways than one!
Be a Rock Star

Appropriate for ages 8 to 12
Take on the role of a geologist and follow the rock cycle by performing experiments to learn how rocks are formed. Discover the different properties of rocks and categorize them based on a set of criteria.

Appropriate for ages 6 to 11
Get up close and personal with the creatures that make up the Earth’s largest population. Build-a-bug; see the world through the eyes of a fly; and learn some amazing facts about insect defense, including camouflage and mimicry. This program comes complete with live insects and some truly unbelievable mounted insects from across the globe.
Coming to America

Appropriate for ages 9 and up
The nineteenth century brought many people to Cincinnati's doorstep from all around the world. What factors might influence an immigrant to leave the only home they have ever known, and how did these groups impact our local community? Identify the "push" and "pull" factors that made the U.S. the land of opportunity, and the influence these groups had on Cincinnati's rich cultural history.
Fossils at our Feet: Ancient Creatures of the Queen City
June 18, 2012 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Appropriate for ages 9 and up
This program will cover the tremendous wealth of fossilized fauna found in and around the Cincinnati area. We will explore the tri –state as it once was during the Ordovician time period. Look at and handle real local fossils and discus environmental changes that lead to new ways to survival or extinction.
