Rocky Mountain Express
Now through March 1, 2012

Hop aboard and travel through the Canadian Rockies on a steam train adventure of a lifetime. Join passionate engineers as they work to re-ignite the fires of the Age of Steam and restore a champion locomotive–2816 “The Empress.” Together, they will pit their skills and an old engine against the perils of great mountain passes and rugged terrain. As their steam adventures unfold, so does the dramatic 19th-century story of the rails on which they ride—the 1880s building of a transcontinental link through the Canadian Rockies—a project that drew heavily on American ingenuity and on labor from around the world.

A Day in Pompeii
March 2 through August 12, 2012

The Roman city of Pompeii and her people were frozen in time by the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Experience room-sized frescos, marble and bronze sculptures, jewelry, gold coins, and hundreds of priceless ancient artifacts. Understand how the volcano's victims were eerily preserved in their final frantic moments. Be sure to catch this rarely seen and very moving glimpse into the ancient past.

Group Adult $16.50, Group Child (3-12 yrs) $8.50
Tour Operator rates available. Create a package around the exhibition – Call our Senior Director of Tourism & Group Sales for ideas and pricing (513) 287-7068, (800) 733-2077, 1 + 7068.

Hidden Hawaii: Born from Volcanoes
March 2 through August 12, 2012 (times vary)

Take an amazing journey to the most remote locations on the Hawaiian Islands, filled with fiery volcanic eruptions and rivers of molten lava that bring the formation of the islands to life. Hold onto your seat as you descend 4,000 feet beneath the surface to witness the birth of Loihi, the newest Hawaiian island.  Kayak a treacherous route up the Molokai coast then climb the highest sea cliffs in the world in an attempt to save the rare Alula plant. The adventure continues as you overlook the very edge of Maui’s 10,000-foot-high Haleakala Crater where the spectacular Silversword plant blooms only once in a decade. Experience the beauty and wonder of natural Hawaii, a paradise where from lava springs life.

To The Arctic
April 20 through September 3, 2012

This film transports audiences to the ocean and tundra of the far north to witness the amazing richness and complexity of this environment. Venture across floating ice with a mother polar bear and her two cubs as they struggle to survive.  Discover the extraordinary underwater world of the Arctic sea with the beluga whales, Greenland sharks and walruses.  Fly above a thundering herd of caribou making their way to their calving ground.  TO THE ARCTIC is a visually breathtaking story of life in the Arctic and the rapid changes occurring there because of climate change.

It's never too early to book a group for the holidays!

Holiday Junction Featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains
November 3 through January 1, 2013

The adventures continue with everyone’s favorite holiday train exhibit; Holiday Junction Featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains. That’s right; the holiday season at Cincinnati Museum Center will continue to offer TWO timeless holiday traditions. The vintage model trains featured in the exhibit are among the finest of their kind, and the striking theatrical backgrounds create a wonderland to explore. Duke Energy’s holiday train display has been seen by more than nine million people as a Cincinnati tradition for 65 years. We are thrilled Duke has entrusted Cincinnati Museum Center with the care and operation of the trains, which are now a permanent public offering for years to come as part of Holiday Junction. This experience is included with admission to the Cincinnati History Museum.
