Get into Nature with Naturalist Emily Franzen
10 a.m. to noon | John A. & Judy Ruthven Get Into Nature Gallery (Museum of Natural History & Science)
It's easy to get tunnel vision on a hike and forget that the journey is just as important as the destination. Join local naturalist and entomologist Emily Franzen and discover the benefits of slowing down and taking a closer look at the plants, insects and birds that surround you on every nature hike. Learn the basics of plant identification and what to look for as you stop and smell, touch, and photograph the flowers and non-flowers you might have missed!
Advancing Health, Sharing Resources: Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services
10 a.m. to noon | Advancing Health Gallery (Museum of Natural History & Science)
Hamilton County Developmental Disabilities Services supports more than 10,400 people with intellectual, developmental or physical disabilities at all ages and stages of life. They help the people they support and their families navigate life transitions, find meaningful connections and fully participate in their communities.
- Learn how their community navigation team helps people forge strong connections to their interests, peers and community.
- Learn about their Pursuit of Healthiness program, which meets monthly to discuss daily mental and physical health, staying healthy, advocacy at medical appointments and more.
- Learn about how their agency supports people, from babies and school-age children to adults and senior citizens.
What We Carry
10 a.m. to 1 p.m. | KidSPACE (The Children’s Museum)
Artist Adoria L. Maxberry will lead participants through an exploration of what we are carrying and what can be released. We’ll design tote bags and remind ourselves of what we should be carrying.
Calm Caterpillar Presents: The Calm Kids Class
11 to 11:30 a.m. | Corbett Theater (The Children’s Museum)
Join us for a kid + parent class to help you and your child regulate emotions through breathing exercises. Learn five easy to implement breathing techniques, how and when to use them and what is a calm corner. And see how our soft plush toys promote deep breathing!
Advancing Health, Sharing Resources: Mayfield Brain & Spine
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Advancing Health Gallery (Museum of Natural History & Science)
Learn more about the nerves that run through your body, from your toes, along your spine and all the way up to your brain. Experts from Mayfield Brain & Spine will be available with ways to help strengthen your spine so you can do all the things you love to do – plus the signs to watch for to avoid serious brain disorders.
We Are Stardust: A Universe of Wonder with the Well
11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. | Galaxy Theater, Neil Armstrong Space Exploration Gallery (Museum of Natural History & Science)
A nebula is a cloud of gas and dust where stars are born—and the same elements that make up a nebula also make up us. We are, in a very real way, made of stardust. In this experience, you’re invited to lie back and daydream about space, draw your own nebula, write a poem about the cosmos, move like celestial bodies and create space-inspired sounds with instruments. Let your imagination be your guide to question, dream and wonder.
Mandala Mindfulness Workshop with artist Radha Lakshmi
Noon to 2 p.m. | Cr(eat)e Culinary Studio featuring the Kroger Food Lab
Enjoy a small sampling of a delicious Indian dish while you immerse yourself in the art of creating mandalas. Discover the therapeutic benefits of this ancient practice as you let your creativity flow and explore the beauty of impermanence.
Nature as Medicine with Osher Center for Integrative Health
Noon to 2 p.m. | John A. & Judy Ruthven Get Into Nature Gallery (Museum of Natural History & Science)
Discover the concept of Nature as Medicine through engaging resources such as nature prescriptions, seed packets promoting food as medicine and other wellness tools. Osher staff and student volunteers will be available to answer questions and share how nature can support overall health.

Stop by Advancing Health, presented by Mayfield Brain & Spine to learn more about integrative approaches to care, mindfulness practices and information on whole-person health that offer practical ways to support well-being in daily life.
Drumming Up Health with HealthRHYTHMS
1 to 2 p.m. | STEM Lab (Museum of Natural History & Science)
Join the Cincinnati Music & Wellness Coalition (CMWC) for a fun-filled session of HealthRHYTHMS group empowerment drumming. No prior musical knowledge is required. This research based recreational music making program is known to reduce stress, build camaraderie, improve communication and provides an opportunity to have fun with friends and make new friends.
Discover the Magic of Senses & Movement with The Transformational Healing Place
1 to 3 p.m. | Corbett Theater (The Children’s Museum)
The Transformational Healing Place invites you to explore the world through your senses with gentle, mindful movements inspired by nature, art and discovery. In this fun and calming session, kids will sway, stretch and breathe while engaging all of their senses. Come discover how movement and the senses can open a door to inner peace and joyful exploration at one (or more) of the following sessions:
- Session One: 1 to 1:15 p.m.
- Session Two: 1:15 to 1:30 p.m.
- Session Three: 1:30 to 1:45 p.m.
- Session Four: 2:15 to 2:30 p.m.
- Session Five: 2:30 to 2:45 p.m.
- Session Six: 2:45 to 3 p.m.
Upcycled Fashion: Embellish and Embroider
1 to 3 p.m. | History in the Making Classroom (Cincinnati History Museum)
Create in community! Learn the art of upcycled fashion and make a one-of-a-kind statement using what's already in your closet. Artist Ciara LeRoy will teach workshop participants how to utilize scrap textiles, embroidery and more to embellish and transform old clothing into fresh and fashionable creations.
Be Mindful of the Science
3 to 5 p.m. | Advancing Health Gallery (Museum of Natural History & Science)
Mindfulness has been practiced in some form or thousands of years. In recent years, there is increasing evidence that mindfulness has wide-ranging benefits for human health and wellbeing. Join us in Advancing Health, presented by Mayfield Brain & Spine to discover the science behind mindfulness.
